A Buxton headteacher has made a dramatic call for parents to take action if the underfunding of the county's schools is not addressed in a government review expected next month.

Andrew Guttmann said Derbyshire was one of the bottom three worst-funded counties in the country.

He said: "I can't understand why people have not demonstrated yet and realised how much the children are being dis-serviced by it."

Mr Guttman headteacher at Burbage Primary since January 1999 said that having been a headteacher at a school in Cheshire, he knew first-hand the unfairness of the system.
