Fed: Countries not embracing GM will be left behind

A key US industry adviser says countries that don't embrace genetic modification of
foods will be left behind while others benefit.

VAL GIDDINGS, the food and agriculture vice president of the BIO group, told an audience
of scientists in Canberra the whole GM issue had been overtaken by misinformation and
deliberate lies.

He says there's no credible evidence anywhere of genetically modified crops or food
having an adverse impact on consumers.

Dr GIDDINGS says all the hype about GM is delaying a technology that will bring huge
benefits, and Australia risks being left behind.
